A lot of people think that you can't improve upon a Mercedes. The owner of this 2006 SLK-280 knew better! The factory system in this car consisted of 9 speakers, a mid bass and mid range in the door with a tweeter in the corner of the window, a center channel, and a pair of rear mid range speakers! The radio that comes equipped in this car communicates with the car via fiber optic cables which makes integrating difficult.

We got around that by simply removing the radio and replacing it with a Kenwood eXcelon DNX-5140 complete with navigation and DVD player. The double-DIN radio powers a set of Boston Acoustics Pro60SE's in the door mounted in a custom plate covered in carbon fiber vinyl. The front output from the radio runs the tweeters and the rear outputs power the mids. This bi-amp setup gives the components plenty of power without having to add an amplifier.
